The truth is that everyone has their own pain tolerance. However, for patients that are getting lip filler, under eye and non-surgical nose jobs we apply numbing cream about 20-30 min prior to the appointment time. This numbing cream is a very strong prescription strength. It is best to arrive early to your appointment time for pre-treatment numbing! We also use the smallest needles possible for the least discomfort possible!
Most neuromodulators take about 7-10 days to kick in and can take up to 2 weeks at time. On average most neuromodulators last about 3-4 months.
We suggest that you do not overheat after neuromodulator injections for 24 hours. The neuromodulator needs to kick in and best does that in a cool, non-compressed environment. We ask that you not wear a baseball cap, hat or headband on forehead for 24 hours, do not lay down for 1 hour and do not use a mechanical facial cleaning brush or get a massage face down for 24 hours.
Any needle can cause bruising. Neuromodulators tend to cause less bruising than fillers and threads. To prevent bruising and bleeding, we strongly suggest arnica tablets, over the counter (usually in the first aid section of the pharmacy or online on Amazon) at least 72 hours prior to the procedure. Please do not take them according to the product labeling. We recommend 2 tablets under the tongue every few hours = 6-8 x daily. This is best to prevent bruising for filler appointments especially lips and undereye. We also ask that you stop taking all blood thinning medications or supplements not prescribed to you. Ex: ibuprofen, naproxen, aspirin, fish oils, multivitamins, vitamin C, B vitamins – for 3 days prior to appointment.
