Every question, answered.
Everything patients ask before, during, and after beginning the Dr. Lori journey — organized so you can find your answer fast.
Getting Started
Conventional medicine is exceptional at acute care and crisis management. It's designed around diagnosis codes and prescriptions that suppress symptoms. Functional medicine investigates why symptoms are happening — and treats the underlying systems (hormones, gut, mitochondria, inflammation, toxin burden) that produce them.
The two approaches complement each other. You don't have to choose between them — Dr. Lori works alongside your existing providers.
Anyone who has been told their labs are "normal" but doesn't feel well. Anyone tired of managing symptoms without answers. Anyone entering perimenopause, dealing with autoimmune conditions, stubborn weight, brain fog, fatigue, or hormone changes. And anyone who wants to prevent the conditions their family history predicts — instead of waiting for them to happen.
No. In fact, many patients come to Dr. Lori precisely because they've spent years being told nothing is wrong. Functional medicine works from your symptoms and story forward — not from a diagnosis code backward.
Patients with existing diagnoses (thyroid disease, PCOS, autoimmune conditions, long COVID, insulin resistance) also benefit deeply, because we address the systems underneath the diagnosis.
Start with a complimentary 30-minute virtual consultation. This is a conversation — a chance for Dr. Lori (or a team practitioner) to hear your story and for you to decide whether the practice is the right fit.
If it's a good match, next steps are discussed on that call: lab orders, Blueprint enrollment, and a plan for your first comprehensive lab review appointment.
Yes. There's no fee for the initial 30-minute consultation, and no obligation to enroll. It exists so both you and Dr. Lori can decide whether the practice is the right fit before you invest anything.
Most patients notice meaningful changes within 4 to 8 weeks — sleep and energy shift first, then mood and cognition. Hormone-related and metabolic changes typically take 8 to 12 weeks to fully settle as we titrate to your optimal protocol.
Deeper healing — gut restoration, autoimmune stabilization, longevity gains — unfolds over 6 to 12 months of consistent work.
The R3AL³™ Method
The R3AL³™ Method is Dr. Lori's trademarked, four-step clinical framework for personalized integrative-functional medicine. It's how every patient's story gets translated into a plan — and how every plan evolves as you do.
R — Retrieve, Reconstruct, Review your full history, story, and labs.
E — Eliminate what's no longer serving your body: chronic infections, food sensitivities, toxic exposures.
A — Additions of essential nutrients, bioidentical hormones, peptides, and advanced therapies based on what your labs show you need.
L³ — Life Link + Longevity = Lifegevity. The integration where every LifeLink connects and aging becomes something you shape.
Six foundational body systems plus one longevity link:
1. Gut · 2. Immune · 3. Hormones (sex, thyroid, cortisol) · 4. Metabolic Optimization · 5. Detoxification · 6. Cellular Health (mitochondria) · +1. Longevity (brain, cardiac, genetic prevention, deprescribing).
When one link is weak, every other link is affected. Dr. Lori strengthens each link in sequence — building a chain of optimized health.
Lifegevity is Dr. Lori's term for the outcome her method is built to produce. It's the equation: Lifegevity = LifeLinks + Longevity.
Not just longer life — a fuller one. More years feeling like yourself, doing what you love, in a body that keeps working the way you need it to.
Most functional medicine programs are excellent at protocols but light on integration — you get a supplement list and a plan for one system. R3AL³ integrates every LifeLink into a single, evolving plan, then continuously optimizes across all of them as your body changes.
The framework was also built by a practitioner running the model at scale, so it's operationally proven — not just theoretical.
Virtual Practice
Yes. All functional medicine consultations, lab reviews, and follow-up appointments happen virtually via secure video and the OnPatient portal. You can be seen from anywhere in the country without traveling.
The only in-person component is regenerative aesthetics services (for patients local to Washington Crossing, PA or attending on-site events).
Dr. Lori is licensed to see patients in most U.S. states. State-specific licensure can affect prescribing, so during your complimentary consultation the team will confirm coverage for your state before you enroll.
The OnPatient Portal is the secure platform where you communicate with Dr. Lori and the clinical team between appointments. You'll use it to send messages, share updates, view lab results, request prescription refills, and schedule appointments.
Setup happens during your first consultation.
Primarily through the OnPatient portal. It's the most efficient way to reach your provider, share symptom updates, and get non-urgent questions answered without booking a full appointment.
Members of the Lifegevity Blueprint receive unrestricted virtual concierge access; other Blueprint tiers include portal messaging with appropriate turnaround times.
Standard portal messages are typically answered within 1 to 2 business days. Founders Circle and Lifegevity Blueprint members receive priority response.
For time-sensitive medication questions, the team prioritizes accordingly.
Dr. Lori's practice is not an emergency service. For any true medical emergency — chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe allergic reaction, suicidal thoughts — call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
For urgent but non-emergency issues (medication reactions, sudden symptom changes), use the portal and mark the message urgent; the team will respond as quickly as possible during business hours.
Testing & Labs
Most patients start with a comprehensive panel covering:
Full sex hormones · complete thyroid panel (TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3, and antibodies) · cortisol and adrenal markers · inflammation markers · advanced metabolic and cardiometabolic labs · key vitamins and nutrients.
Depending on your story, we may also run gut microbiome, mold, heavy metal, food sensitivity, or genetic testing.
Labs are drawn locally through nationwide partner facilities (LabCorp, Quest, and specialty labs). The team will send you the orders with instructions on where to go near you.
Yes — if they're recent (typically within the past 6 months) and comprehensive enough to answer the questions Dr. Lori needs answered. If they're incomplete or outdated, additional testing may still be needed to build your full picture.
"Normal" and "optimal" are two different things.
Standard lab reference ranges are built from population averages — which include a lot of unwell people. Functional medicine uses optimal ranges that reflect how a healthy body actually functions. Your labs can be "normal" and still show meaningful room for optimization.
It depends on your Blueprint and what you're being treated for. Most patients repeat comprehensive labs every 6 to 12 months. Patients on BHRT typically need targeted labs 10 to 14 days before select follow-up visits.
Elite Lab Blueprint members receive one deep-dive assessment per year; Lifegevity Blueprint members receive 3 to 4 comprehensive assessments per year.
Blueprints & Cost
Blueprints are Dr. Lori's five membership tiers — each built around the LifeLinks and outcomes it prioritizes:
Lifegevity Blueprint ($150/mo) — flagship comprehensive care. Peptide Blueprint ($50/mo) — peptide protocols. Metabolism Blueprint ($100/mo) — GLP-1 weight optimization. Thrive 365 ($40/mo) — supplement optimization. Elite Lab Blueprint ($250 one-time) — annual deep-dive lab assessment.
Dr. Lori (or a team practitioner) will recommend the right starting Blueprint during your complimentary consultation, based on your goals, symptoms, and priorities. Many patients start in one and move to another as their needs evolve.
Broadly: Lifegevity for comprehensive care and hormones; Metabolism for weight loss; Peptide for peptide-only protocols; Thrive 365 for supplement-driven baseline optimization.
Blueprint membership covers your ongoing clinical care and visits. Costs outside the membership include:
Labs — variable, usually a few hundred dollars per comprehensive panel. Prescriptions — variable; some are inexpensive, GLP-1s and BHRT run higher. Supplements — variable based on protocol; 10% auto-ship discount available.
All costs are disclosed transparently before you enroll or fill anything.
Blueprint memberships are not billed through insurance. Most functional medicine services fall outside conventional billing codes, so we operate as a transparent membership model instead.
Certain labs and prescriptions may be run through your insurance directly; the team will let you know which items qualify.
Most patients can use HSA or FSA funds for medical services, labs, and prescriptions. Membership fees may or may not qualify depending on your specific plan. Check with your HSA/FSA administrator — the team can provide receipts for reimbursement submission.
Yes. Most Blueprints are month-to-month with no long-term contract. The exception is Thrive 365, which requires a 12-month commitment.
Founders Circle members retain their founding pricing only while continuously enrolled; if they leave and rejoin, re-entry is at current rates.
Yes. Most Blueprints offer an annual pay-in-full option at a reduced rate — for example, the Lifegevity Blueprint is $150/month or $1,500/year (saving $300). Metabolism Blueprint is $100/month or $1,000/year. Annual pricing is discussed during enrollment.
Treatments & Therapies
Bioidentical hormones are compounds with the same chemical and molecular structure as the hormones your body naturally produces (as defined by The Endocrine Society). They're derived from plant sources and precisely compounded for each patient — a personalized alternative to synthetic hormones.
Dr. Lori uses BHRT for both women and men to restore hormone balance, alleviate symptoms of decline, and support long-term vitality.
When properly dosed, monitored, and matched to your individual labs, BHRT has a strong safety profile backed by decades of clinical use. Risk comes from unmonitored or one-size-fits-all approaches — not from bioidentical therapy itself.
Dr. Lori runs baseline and follow-up labs to adjust your dose to your body, not a template.
Multiple delivery routes are available depending on the hormone, your preferences, and what your labs support:
Troches (dissolvable lozenges) · Capsules · Creams · Injectables · Pellets (for local patients). Dr. Lori will recommend the delivery method that best fits your protocol.
Peptides are small molecules — precursors to proteins — that act as messengers to your cells, instructing them to perform specific tasks. Your body naturally produces around 7,000 different peptides daily; as we age, that production slows.
Therapeutic peptides can be used to support metabolism, muscle preservation, sleep, recovery, cognition, skin, hair, and immune function.
GLP-1 receptor agonists (semaglutide, tirzepatide) are peptide medications originally developed for type 2 diabetes that also produce significant weight loss and metabolic improvement. They regulate blood sugar, suppress appetite, improve insulin sensitivity, and reduce systemic inflammation.
Dr. Lori uses them as one tool inside a broader metabolic optimization plan — never as standalone treatment.
Both are effective GLP-1 medications; tirzepatide is a dual-action peptide (GLP-1 + GIP) that often produces slightly greater weight loss in clinical trials. The right choice depends on your specific labs, goals, side effect profile, insurance coverage, and cost considerations.
Dr. Lori will discuss both during your consultation and recommend the option best suited to your body.
Brand-name (Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro) are FDA-approved medications from major pharmaceutical companies. Cost is high; insurance may or may not cover.
Compounded versions are prepared by licensed 503A or 503B compounding pharmacies. They contain the same active peptide at a significantly lower cost. Dr. Lori works only with vetted, FDA-registered compounding pharmacies — never gray-market sources.
This is exactly why we build a plan up front. Without a structured taper and maintenance strategy, many patients regain weight when they stop.
Dr. Lori's Metabolism Blueprint includes microdose, weaning, and maintenance protocols — with hormone optimization, peptide support, and lifestyle scaffolding designed to keep your progress after you're off the medication.
Yes. Dr. Lori offers regenerative aesthetics — collagen restoration, hair restoration, skin texture treatments, and select injectables — with a philosophy of activating your body's own regeneration rather than masking with filler.
Prescription-grade skincare from Alastin and Dr. Lori's exclusive line is available to all patients regardless of location.
Consultation and skincare protocols are handled virtually. Hands-on treatments (PRP, biostimulators, regenerative procedures, injectables) are performed in person at the Washington Crossing, PA location or during periodic on-site events.
If you're not local, you can still access the skincare, supplement, and functional medicine components remotely.
Ongoing Care
Follow-up cadence depends on your Blueprint and where you are in your protocol:
All patients have a required follow-up at minimum every 3 months (20–30 minutes). Metabolism Blueprint members meet bi-weekly or monthly during titration. Lifegevity Blueprint members schedule progress visits every 2 to 3 months. Appointments are not limited in quantity — you can book as often as you need.
Yes — and it's encouraged. Dr. Lori's care complements your PCP, OB/GYN, endocrinologist, or specialists rather than replacing them. She'll share notes with your existing providers when appropriate and coordinate care as needed.
Absolutely. Many patients enroll spouses, adult children, or parents once they see results. Each family member enrolls in their own Blueprint tailored to their needs, but the practice can coordinate care within the family when appropriate.
The R3AL³™ Blueprint Rewards program returns value to patients through supplement and product credits, discount access, and priority perks. Members earn rewards through ongoing enrollment, auto-ship subscriptions, and referrals.
Auto-ship also unlocks an automatic 10% discount on all supplement orders.
The Founders Circle is a limited, application-based tier that sits on top of the Lifegevity Blueprint. Members receive priority access to Dr. Lori, early access to new protocols and technologies, invitations to exclusive in-person events, and founding pricing that locks in as the practice grows.
Applications open in quarterly cycles; membership is capped intentionally.
